Hiya...
Think I last updated in November, that's insane.

Anyway, because I can't get onto myspace in work I thought I'd try and reach you here for a shameless plug.

My band Kill The King, is finally playing it's first gig tonight at The Metropolitan pub on Berry Street in Liverpool. We're onstage at 10pm. I know it's short notice so if you can't make that, we're also playing the Merseymusic 3 gig at The Korova on 23rd August.

Hopefully see some of yers there.

Well hello....
Long time no post...

Nothing much has happened really.

Took Vicky to Blackpool for her birthday. Good stuff. I even went on one of those rides that is just a big pole that goes hundreds of feet in the air. i'm usually not all that into going on them but we ended up doing so 5 times. Early November really is the best time to go to Blackpool, there's no-one there, no queues etc, and it isn't all that cold yet.

Have moved offices to Wallasey. I'm on Crisis Loans, which means I have to deal with the public all day every day. It's not nearly as bad as I expected. The people are nice, the environment is good, and I'm home by 5:30 at the latest every day. Convenience-wise it's the best decision I ever made regarding my job.

Due to a few mishaps with regards to people joining, Mark and I have put off trying to find other members until January. That way people won't be skint in the run up to Christmas etc. So now we've worked out a set of acoustic covers with a view to doing some open mic nights etc;

Dan Potthast - I've Set Sail
The Verve Pipe - The Freshmen
John Holt - Touch Me In The Morning
Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah
The Rentals - The Love I'm searching for
The Yardbirds - For Your Love
Led Zeppelin - Babe I'm Gonna Leave You Soon
Elvis Costello - I Want You
Tom Waits - Downtown Train
The Cure - Boys Don't Cry
Arcade Fire - Neighbourhood #1
Gomez - Whippin' Piccadilly
The Zombies - Time of The Season
The Rakes - Retreat

Also we're getting a bloke called Rich to record and remix some stuff for us so we have more of a product. It's all still going good despite another setback personnel-wise.

later.

have been given much more responsibility in work, when will they learn?!!

chibi_champness just called me an 'electro ponce'. the very nerve!!! hehee.

I have the evil demon death pox, kindly donated by little_vixen_81 . i feel like my organs are being sneezed out every minute. tasty.

The guitarist we met up with on Thursday (Jamie), has, up until now, not gotten back to us, despite our best efforts. I don't think either of us have any bad habits, I don't smell all that bad, he said he loved the demos. What gives?

On lighter band news, 4 new songs are ready to be lyricised.

In work news, I've put in for a voluntary transfer, that if it comes off, could see me working in Huyton, Williamson Square, Birkenhead, or Belle Vale (which is where they're sending us anyway). It'll cut down on the 2 hours per day i spend travelling, and the £70 per month it cost for my Trio pass. Granted, some people may have worse/more expensive journey's to and from work, but I'll freely admit I'm a miser, and need all the money I can get now I'm dipping an awkward toe into the lake of rock.

Hit the band website,(www.myspace.com/killthekingmusic in case you forgot), to hear my good self and Mark making verily with the rocking on two tracks recorded at the Kif on Tuesday, 'Intuition', and '(Ours Is A Light That) Flickers'. See what you think, don't be too mean, tell all your buddies.

Busy busy busy
Quite busy this week me.

Practice tonight,
Recording tomorrow.
Editors gig on Thursday.

Will try and fit in going to see 'Land of The Dead' at some point too.

There seems to be a pox going round. I'm proper sniffly, not good when you consider I've gotta do a lot of singing this week. little_vixen_81 is ill in bed.

We went to Delamere forset yesterday. that's a hella cool place, despite the fact they've levelled a huge bit of it to create an ugly lake.

Still hating my job, as always, but at least i'm only in 4 days.

Check me out....!!
Go to www.myspace.com/killthekingmusic for a VERY rough demo of 'Intuition', and kindly add yourself to our friends page too ,ta.

The quality aint great but we're recording it properly in The Kif on Parr Street this Thursday. That said, it aint bad for 2 blokes recording onto a 4-track in a kitchen in Kirkdale!!

WoooHoooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
To all intents and purposes, the band has now got a name!! After Mark had jettisonned all but a few of my ideas, we put it to a vote on Gigwise.com to see what was the best out of the 10 we both liked. the band is called; Kill The King.

It's actually a relief to finally have a moniker. And before some of you ask, it's nothing to do with Megadeth, or Elvis!!

As yet untitled....
Myself and Mark have given ourselves a deadline of this week to think of a name for the band. I have thought of several but they are mostly naff or already being used by some little known Swedish experimental acid-jazz band or something (courtesy of www.thebandregister.co.uk)!!

Had a highly drunken night on Friday, couldn't sleep Saturday morning and so got up and watched my new uncut dvd of Zombie Flesh Eaters/Zombi 2/Zombie (whatever of it's titles you wanna give it). Amazing stuff. My first born will be called 'Fulci'.

Hello,

I realise I haven't properly updated for a while, but since nothing really ever happens, what exactly is there to tell?

Doug has buggered off totally, so as such just myself and Mark are recording like demons on the 4-track. I'm desperately trying to write lyrics for our new stuff, and in the most part succeeding. We have 2 new songs that are sounding like we want the band to sound, called "Intuition", and "Millions Ready Nooses". I think if we're gonna 'make it', it will be with "Intuition". This song is our paydirt (if I can finish the lyrics!!) We're getting the songs recorded as well as we can before setting up a website.

My sunburn from Porthmadog has now gone, and after I peeled like a bitch i'm now back to my pasty best.

Got a text completely out of the blue from my cousin Kathryn. She's closest to me in age out of the cousins my family are still in contact with, and is 'a rock type', so god knows why we don't hang out. Anyway, we met up in the shit house for drinkage and I met her new chappie, a nice man called James. Kathryn seems to have come out of her shell alot since we were kids. She was always painfully shy because she was inadvertantly forced out as her younger sister has cerebral palsy and as such requires a lot of care.

Anyhoop, once more to the breach dear friends...

Update-ism...
bullet points i'm afraid...

* Doug might be getting sacked off from the band in favour of just using session types whenever we wanna record, due to constantly cancelling etc.. God knows what we'll do for live performance, but we're a few months off from that anyway.

* Despite some ripping from various peers, I really enjoyed the Goldfrapp gig on Wednesday.

* Myself and the missus have been together for a year on Sunday. Crazy. We're gonna be in Porthmadog celebrating her mum's 50th at the time.

* I got, foolishly you may say, a new tattoo on my forearm. It's an old-style, Hammer-esque zombie face, copied from a patch i bought in Morecambe. It's awesome.

The film of my life?
Woody Allen
Your film will be 58% romantic, 38% comedy, 33% complex plot, and a $ 27 million budget.
Be prepared to have your life story shot entirely in New York City -- though lately Woody's been loving shooting in London. Also, your music soundtrack is all jazz from before 1949. Filmography: Annie Hall, Manhattan, Stardust Memories, Everyone Says I Love You, etc. Woody has released one film per year consistently for the past 35 years. For the past 15 years he's been trying to make films like his older, funnier ones, just like characters in his Stardust Memories film suggest throughout. Regardless of his personal life (btw, his current wife was never *his* daughter), his films are American classics.

Darn it!
Karen has said that, after hearing our demo, she isn't really into joining the band. No matter, will give us more time to write and record some stuff, and bassists are reasonably easy to come by. Mark and I have gotten bursts of inspiration which should hopefully see us through this small setback, and we can always record the bass parts seperately on the 4-track.

The band as it stands...
Pete Duff; Vocals/lyrics/music/fatigue/inexperience

Mark Sumner; Guitar/vocals/lyrics/music/cool house/moccasins

Doug Mallett; Guitar noodling/obsessive hatred of Keane/Shrewsbury accent/hobbitness

Karen Timms; Bass/Breeders fan/Halifax accent/crazy demeanour/Ye Cracke regular

All being well we should be meeting up on Wednesday night for our first proper practice. tis a scary prospect. I'm a little nervous and should really start writing music more often or else it'll seem i'm just turning up, warbling a bit and leaving. Still no name or drummer yet.

Updateness
What to say? not really had anything to post on here for a bit.

Mark is back from his holiday so band stuff can start again. We met up with a guitarist called...Doug Mallet. That rules! Tomorrow we're meeting up with Karen formerly of Flamingo 50 and Lovecraft with a view to getting her in on bass. Then we're getting a room in Pacific Studios so we can start practising properly and cranking up the old volume. Still not got a name or a drummer though. Any suggestions?

Went to watch 'The Descent' on Saturday. it's a bit cool like. 'Dog Soldiers' was made by the same people so I knew what to expect.

I have £30 to my name til friday. That's not cool. Looks like it's gonna be another overdraft month!
